The Body
It was your first time coming so
close upon the dead
her body bobbing breasts up
on the slickened surface of the river
tongue over-swollen
eyes all agog
genuinely surprised and
ever so touched that you’d gone all that way just to see
her—
squeezing hard on the hand you ducked
between your legs
rocking and rising from off
the steamed planking
your lip
bitten badly
